How Himalayan Restaurant began
The Himalayan Restaurant in Niles, IL opened its doors in December 2003. This unique Indian and Nepali specialty restaurant was started by two friends who both began their careers in the technology industry. But their love for Indian and Nepali food, their aspiration to provide better customer service, and their innate desire to share their culture led them into the world of restaurants.
They realized that the people of the Indian subcontinent living in the northern suburbs — as well as people who love Indian food in general — were not being exposed to truly authentic Indian and Nepali cuisine like what could be found back in their home countries.
With that in mind, they teamed up with immensely talented Chef Mr. Bishnu Subedi for their venture, and have been working harder every day to serve and satisfy every customer who walks through their doors.
In 2026, we celebrate our 23rd year — with two thriving locations, thousands of loyal regulars, and the same commitment to authenticity that opened our doors in 2003.
